Our People
Sophia O’Brien-Udry, the founder and lead teacher of Three Chairs, is an experienced Montessori guide and Head of School. She holds two Montessori credentials alongside an M.A. in Montessori Education & Leadership and has worked with children and families for over 15 years. Sophia has served the Montessori community in many capacities - as a Head of School, a classroom teacher for children ages 18 months through 3rd grade, and as a professional development consultant for schools in New York and Rhode Island. She has also designed and taught curricula for Montessori educator training. A committed advocate for teacher & caregiver education, Sophia is an adjunct professor in the Art Education department at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Sophia is passionate about expanding access to Montessori education, and in her previous Head of School role, helped launch Rhode Island’s first public Montessori program. She doesn’t "spend" her free time; instead, she fills it with the company of her dog, Vaca, two cats, Monty & Pieter, and her husband, Eli.
